I've been to Rick Erwin's Eastside three times since I've lived in Greenville. The first time, two years ago, it was fantastic. The dry aged steak was superb.
The second time was this past November. All was excellent until we ordered dry aged steaks, and they were in fact NOT dry aged. When we spoke to the waitress, she was very polite and went to get the chef and he came to our table to apologize and told us that they weren't dry aged. Okay, so had we not known the difference between regular and dry aged, they would have still said it was dry aged and charged us for a dry aged steak. That is lying and misleading. But the apology was kind and sincere, so we decided to come back later another time.
We visited a third time this past weekend and the same thing happened. We ordered a dry aged steak and it was not dry aged. We told our waitress, she was polite and said she would inform the chef. This time the chef did not come to our table. Instead, our waitress told us that she told the chef and he said to tell us he would talk to Rick. That was it.
Again, both times when we ordered the dry aged steaks, they came out and were not what we ordered. If we were simply told there were no dry aged steaks available this would not have been an issue.
That's twice that they've deceived customers. I only hope that they don't do the same to other customers who don't know the very distinct taste difference of a dry aged versus regular steak.
We will not be returning.

My wife and I celebrated our 25 yr wedding anniversary at Rick Erwin's East side. Food was delicious and staff was very accommodating. The fried oysters are in a class all their own. Was however disappointed that the bone in Rib eye was sold out.
